Florida Road Trip
*This will be updated with more info and pictures as we go*
My girlfriend and I are going on a very spontaneous and adventurous road trip to Florida. We’ll probably end up in Key West but we’re not making any plans, we’re just packing up and hitting the open road. It should take us about 26 hours of nonstop driving to get there but I’m sure we’re going to stop a few places and take some pictures 😉

Florida Road Trip Route
We will most likely take the longer 26 hour route on I-77 South along the East Coast on the way down, then head back up I-75 North on our way home. Below is a map to give you an idea of where we’ll be heading, just in case you were curious or if you ever wanted to go on your own adventure someday 🙂
Quick Update: We’re finishing up some laundry, packing the car, mounting the bike rack and making some music playlists. We’ll be leaving sometime today! 😀
On The Road
Bags are packed and we left the house around 4pm.
We’re using the Waze App to learn about road hazards, road construction, traffic jams, accidents and speed traps. It’s a pretty cool app, you should check it out sometime 🙂 It also has a built in Navigation system but it’s limited to 1,000 miles, so I have to use Google Maps Navigation along side Waze.

22 Hours and 36 Minutes to go
Jenna Passed Out
Jenna fell asleep kinda early, so I just kept driving for about 7 hours straight through the Appalachian Mountains. The weather was pretty bad at times. Lots of snow and ice covering the roads. Also, I wasn’t prepared for a long desolate drive, so we almost ran out of gas lol. I was able to find a small gas station that was hiding behind a bunch of older and closed down businesses.
10 Hours and 57 Minutes to go
Cops are out in full force along I-95 South in Georgia. I’m pretty sure it has something to do with all of the Spring Breakers. The highways are a little packed at times. Not that I’m doing anything wrong, but it’s always nice to know if you’re about to get caught in a speed trap or come to a dead stop from a traffic accident.
We Made It
We made it through Georgia and into Florida. We were tired and still had a few extra hours of daylight, so we found a local KOA along the shoreline and set up my 5 person tent. We had a little extra time left over, so we went down to the beach and took a few pictures before sunset. The KOA had WiFi set up, so we watched a little Netflix and went to bed 🙂
Road Trip Detour
Jenna woke me up at 5am with severe abdominal pain and cold sweats. I tried to warm her up with 2 sleeping bags but we made the decision and rushed her to the Flagler Hospital ER.
To make a long story short, after spending 9 hours trying to diagnose what was wrong with her, they found out that she had a blood clot in her right lung 🙁
She spent the next 2.5 days on a blood thinner called Heparin. After several X-Rays, Ultrasounds and CAT Scans, the doctors put her on a prescription of Xarelto and released her.
We were originally worried about continuing the trip but the specialists said it was OK and told us to go about our normal lives and go have fun.
Message from Jenna
“After 58 hours in the hospital, I am finally free!
I am so happy that we caught it early on. And, Joe has been by my side the entire time, and my Dad even flew down to be with us. I am so lucky
I’ll still be on blood thinners for at least 3 months, but I’m feeling a ton better already.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support. We really appreciate it!
Now we are going to continue on our adventure to Key West.”
